"It don't mean a thing,
If it ain't got that Swing."

The words are as true now as when couples throughout America danced to the sounds of Glen Miller, Count Basie, and other big band favorites. Instructor Tran Thanh Tuan (1ere A3) invites you to rediscover the joy of couple dancing and share in the excitement and energy of Swing.  Originally called the "Lindy Hop," Swing dancing is also known as "East Coast Swing," "Jitterbug," and "Rock n' Roll."  Back home, we used to call it "Be Bop."   Regardless of its name, it can be danced to a variety of music from Elvis to the Hollies' "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress." The focus will be lead-and-follow for social dancing.

Bring a partner, or come by yourself.  We will frequently switch partners so everybody will have a chance to meet and dance with everybody.  Dress is casual, comfortable leather sole shoes are best.  We'll start from the basics, so if you can walk and count to 6, we'll have you up and dancing in no time.  And remember, only dogs have two left feet.

Tuan has been a Swing dancing fool for 10 years. He has taught and performed at various venues including The Smithsonian, the White House, and the Kennedy Center.  Helping Tuan will be Marni Silverman. His other passions include Argentine Tango.   So if you're interested and there is time and space, a Tango lesson may be offered.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at our 50th Birthday Bash Party!!!

Please sign up now with tuan35@cox.net if you’re interested.  Provide: name, gender, and your partner’s name if applicable.

The class size will be limited to 50 persons and Tuan will aim for a gender balance.  If there are extra women, they would be put on a waiting list (in the sign-up order) and be "admitted" as more men sign up (or vice-versa).
